Highlights of the Louis Vuitton men’s spring-summer 2023 fashion show

If we had to sum up this season’s Louis Vuitton men’s fashion show in a few words? Creativity, craftsmanship and a

real show.

14h30. Under the scorching sun and sweltering Parisian heat, hand-picked guests of the Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer

2023 show gathered at the Cour Carrée of the Louvre Museum to witness the first show of the French trunk-maker’s ready-to-wear

studio since the passing of Virgil Abloh. For eight seasons, the designer worked to bring his creative vision and street

aesthetic to the Louis Vuitton legacy, until he was adored by the world. View more Virgil Abloh’s final show for Louis Vuitton in 3 highlights

This season more than ever, the collection, titled Strange Math, focuses on creativity and craftsmanship,

through the notion of imagination, between the passage from childhood naivety to creation. With this new

wardrobe, Louis Vuitton wants to reflect this transition in a figurative and literal way. From a very young

age, the desire to transform this imagination into creation begins with the toy, the building blocks and

even the tools of the sandbox. The set is a perfect example: a giant circuit of children’s toys becomes a

road made of yellow bricks like an evolving path for the mind where childish fantasies come to life. Dd4701 Louis Vuitton spring-summer 2023

  3. The art of the show

For the presentation of this new collection, Louis Vuitton saw things in grand style. The show opened

with a dazzling performance by the Marching 100 marching band from Florida A&M University in Tallahassee.

Then the silhouettes arrived, one by one. What jumped out at us was the representation of the flower as

a symbol of French romanticism. It comes in many forms and colors: printed version on a long coat, all-over

on a suit, or as buttons. Other pieces and aesthetics now signature of Virgil Abloh, in the continuity

of his shows, make their appearance on the catwalk. I named the tailoring revisited, the varsity jacket,

this time sublimated with acid orange, or the skirt, here designed with tulle. What we also remember is

the performance of Kendrick Lamar in the front row of the show. The rapper paid tribute to Virgil Abloh

by performing live his track N95 and Savior from his new album.

Statement bags

How can we talk about Louis Vuitton without mentioning the bags? The house’s famous Keepall is dyed in neon green,

a playful pattern or the colorful monogram crochet motif. There was even a bag in a small truck for children

and a model that took the shape of a paper boat.

The show closed with the general appearance of the models, some of whom wore a long piece of fabric in the colors

of the LGBTQ+ flag, a nod to Virgil Abloh’s very first show for Louis Vuitton. A moment always so memorable. cutt Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2023
