Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson, accomplices during their first red carpet appearance
They wore respectively Balenciaga and Prada creations.
Over the past few months, the budding romance between Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson has proven to be as stylish
as it has been surprising. While the couple has kept a low profile – only going out for the occasional dinner and
only attending their first formal event together for the premiere of The Kardashians last month – there has been
a visible shift in Kim Kardashian’s chameleon-like style. In addition to the fashion-forward looks designed by
Demna for Balenciaga that the reality TV star and fashion mogul has favored over the past year, she’s also ventured
into slightly more playful sartorial territory, like the flame-print turtleneck and red leather pants she wore
a few weeks ago that immediately set the Internet ablaze.
Their very first appearance together, on the red carpet
Last night, the newly-formed couple finally made their red carpet debut, attending the White House Correspondents’
Association dinner in looks that met the event’s style mandate of glamour. Kim Kardashian wore – what else? – A
dress by Balenciaga, but one that relied on a more traditional sense of opulence. Sleek and body-hugging, this
dazzling sleeveless gown was covered in thousands of glittering crystals, for an outfit that perfectly reflected
Kim Kardashian’s love of sequins while being perfectly appropriate for the event. Pete Davidson, meanwhile, wore
a black Prada suit with a skinny tie and rectangular sunglasses, and finished his look with a very Davidson touch:
a pair of lace-up Vans.
While their couple’s style has so far been characterized by a charming unpredictability, their red carpet debut
marked the perfect sartorial marriage between Kim Kardashian’s flair for fashion and Pete Davidson’s laid-back
style. For their big night out in Washington, D.C., it seems they finally found their ideal style as a couple,
and it proved to be just as captivating – and unexpected – as their romance.
