Meghan Markle pays tribute to Pretty Woman’s retro chic look

In a polka dot blouse to attend her husband Prince Harry’s polo match, Meghan Markle embraced the retro look

with a chic twist.

As Julia Roberts said in Pretty Woman, “I want a fairy tale.” It’s a sentiment that Meghan Markle, the California

native who went from small screen star to royal bride, definitely shared. An outing by the Duchess of Sussex

in Santa Barbara this May 22 suggests that Vivian Ward’s wardrobe (once refurbished) probably influenced her.

32 years later, Julia Roberts’ style has not aged a bit

Meghan Markle came to support her husband, Prince Harry, polo player emeritus, at the Santa Barbara Polo &

Racquet Club, where his team Los Padres won the Lisle Nixon Memorial Trophy this Sunday, May 22. The outfit

she chose exuded Pretty Woman. Her lightweight tie-dye blouse was printed with polka dots, just like the dress

Vivian wears to stomp the divots in this classic romantic comedy.  View more Meghan Markle’s hairstylist tells us how to achieve the perfect beach-going wavy (in just 3 steps)

Meghan Markle added high-waisted white shorts like the one Julia Roberts couldn’t live without in the movie,

once she raided the Rodeo Drive boutiques for a large portion of their stock. Black Aquazzura heels, a hat

and Valentino glasses completed the Duchess’ retro look.

The Duchess of Sussex’s crisp white shorts, cinched at the waist with a black belt for elegance, were by

Khaite, a New York brand that keeps popping up in her wardrobe. She paired a off-shoulder bodysuit signed

by founder Cate Holstein with fitted black suit pants to join Prince Harry on stage at the Invictus Games

in The Hague earlier this year. Khaite is typical of the brands Meghan Markle gravitates toward. She who

relied on Emilia Wickstead dresses and Givenchy evening wear while living in the UK as a member of the royal

family, is now leaning towards younger labels, which are more in line with her new lifestyle as a mother

of two with a private (but no less high-profile) life with her family in Montecito. Chiefs Kaizer Away Jersey Kit Kits Season Nike Launch Yellow Soccerbible Unveil Premiership Coming Team Purple Football Soccer Meghan Markle at the Invictus Games in The Hague, 2022.

A touch of luxury

These days, her style is simple and minimalist with a touch of luxury: my shoes . Think The Row cashmere pieces and Loro Piana suits for business trips to New York. Think Chanel ballerinas for

a casual family portrait, and Ralph Lauren taupe variations for a visit to the British Embassy in the Netherlands.
