A man, a style: at the designer Charles de Vilmorin in Paris

Discover our first part of “One man, one style”.

Charles de Vilmorin opens the doors of his arty apartment in the heart of the Batignolles district in Paris. With

colorful details, a comfy atmosphere and a homemade fresco, the 24-year-old designer cultivates an interior that

reflects his image: passionate and exciting. The centerpiece? The living room, cradle of his creativity. Take a

guided tour.

A man

In the family of the new guard of French fashion, Charles de Vilmorin, designer prodigy, is already among the greatest.

The young man drew attention in 2020 when he launched his very first collection (while still a student). Struggling

to find an internship, he posts his extra-large, pop-colored coats on his Instagram account. That’s when a mysterious

anonymous person discovers them and decides to buy everything from him, allowing him to found his own brand in April

of the same year. As if that wasn’t enough, a few months later, Charles was appointed, at only 24 years old, to

head the Rochas house. http://triminexdren1980.unblog.fr/2022/04/16/black-on-black-nike-running-shoes/ Loewe zipped jacket, personal Dr. Martens boots, Falke and personal socks

A fashion enthusiast since childhood, his four years of study at the École de la Chambre Syndicale de

la Couture Parisienne reinforced Charles’ idea of working in this sector. He likes to say that his colorful

and theatrical creations are “for people who enjoy experimenting and dare to be original in order to

feel strong and different”. https://controlc.com/07b2d3f4

  • A style

With his long coat, ashy blonde locks and modern-day Yves Saint Laurent phlegm, Charles de Vilmorin’s style is delightfully

at odds with the aesthetics of his designs. But one should never trust appearances. “I have two rather extreme sides.

The first is very classic, very comfortable with pieces that are often vintage without much originality, in which I

feel good. The second is much more creative, whenever the opportunity arises I love to wear flamboyant looks that I

create myself.” https://urlscan.io/result/82440fb3-8e57-4e40-882a-beba819bef19/ Sleeveless cardigan, Gucci pants and loafers, Polo Ralph Lauren shirt and Charles de Vilmorin scarf

Like any self-respecting enthusiast, Charles’ current projects have only one guideline: fashion, with the artistic

direction of the Rochas house as #1 and the development of his own brand as #2, which he “tries to grow through

collaborations and very personal projects”.

A few months ago, Charles moved into his apartment located in the heart of the Batignolles district in the 17th

arrondissement of Paris. On one of the walls of the living room, the designer had fun creating a fresco of a thousand

colors whose aesthetic and arty motifs reflect the pieces of his first collection for Rochas. The result is a place

to live in his image, in which he feels good, mixing opposing universes and yet coming together. “My interior reflects

my different influences, both pop and sophisticated, it is a comfortable and inspiring place. I like to create an

arty universe with strong color touches assimilated with more raw elements.” https://pvcpurple27.edublogs.org/2022/04/16/where-to-buy-nike-roshe-run-singapore-cheap-nike-roshe-run-shoes/ The living room decorated with antique and custom pieces

Her thing? Yard sales and websites selling vintage items such as Selency and Leboncoin. Not to mention the small

Parisian boutiques, some of which are confidential, that he finds while walking through the streets of the capital.

Inveterate creative, Charles also likes to design his own decorative objects. We notice the mural and the carpet

with geometrical shapes that is displayed in the living room of his apartment. “I love it! One of my future projects

would be to launch a home decor line within my brand.” http://phemegetbio1977.unblog.fr/2022/01/19/adidas-nmd-original-boost-runner-adidas-all-white-nmd-ultra-boost-monochrome-white/ Charles de Vilmorin printed jacket and pants and Dr. Martens boots

First fashion memory

“John Galliano’s fashion show for Dior in tribute to Rene Gruau, which spoke to me a lot and inspired me. This

show made me realize that it was possible to live from this passion”. Having grown up in a family very sensitive

to fashion and the arts, Charles also remembers his father collecting books dedicated to these themes, with

a particular fascination for Christian Lacroix.  https://weaponvest38.tumblr.com/post/681496773753176064/nike-kobe-ad-nxt-ff-vast-grey-blue-hero-nike-kobe Charles de Vilmorin’s office

“I love shoes, especially boots with a small heel, they allow me to walk proudly in the street”. Her favorite models?

A pair of Rochas shoes that are both classic and elegant and Tabi shoes from Maison Margiela.

Optional. “I admit I prefer to go out empty-handed whenever possible.” If he had to choose just one, it would be

his vintage Longchamp bag given to him by a friend.

“It’s when I go out that I make the most effort and dare the most offbeat combinations. Associating strong

pieces with those of my daily life. You can just as easily see me in a suit as in a bright feathered outfit.

It really depends on the context and especially on the people I’m with.

Beauty Routine

He accumulates products only to use… none. “It’s something I’d like to put a lot of effort into though!”
