The detail? Timothée Chalamet’s Lacoste polo shirt.

A roaring success of independent cinema in 2022 with Timothée Chalamet and Armie Hammer in the cast, Call

Me By Your Name takes place in the summer of 1983, during the last carefree moments of a world still spared

from AIDS. Somewhere in a country house in Northern Italy, Luca Guadagnino has set up his romantic fresco

adapted from André Aciman’s novel: the story of a love affair and the awakening of desire between Elio

Perlman, a young Franco-American just 17 years old on vacation with his family, and Oliver, a doctoral

student who has come to deepen his knowledge of Greco-Roman culture with Elio’s father

The detail? Alain Delon’s retro short-sleeved shirt.

Alain Delon mesmerized the ’60s and ’70s with his purely French phlegm that allowed him to star in the world’s most

beautiful women, from Catherine Deneuve to Claudia Cardinale. But it is in the hot thriller Plein Soleil by Rene

Clement (1960), alongside Marie Laforêt, that Alain Delon revealed his talents as an actor. In this adaptation of

the novel The Talented Mr. Ripley by Patricia Highsmith, the Cheetah plays the role of a young man responsible for

bringing the son of a rich American from Italy to the United States. We discover a magnetic, mysterious and dangerously

irresistible Alain Delon.

5. Tom Ripley in Anthony Minghella’s “The Talented Mr. Ripley

The detail? Matt Damon’s mismatched shirt/short combo.

In 1955, the novelist Patricia Highsmith published the first of the five opuses of Mr. Ripley, adapted no less

than twice to the cinema: the first in 1955 with Full Sun and then, forty years later, with The Talented Mr. Ripley

directed by Anthony Minghella, with Matt Damon and Jude Law in the lead in 1999. The plot? New York, in the 1950s.

Tom Ripley, a penniless but ambitious young man, makes a living out of petty theft until the day the wealthy Herbert

Greenleaf invites him to travel to Sicily to find his son, Dickie, and bring him back to his obligations. Once

in Italy, Tom gives in to his inhibitions, revealing an extreme admiration for Dickie, which leads to murder.
