Kate Middleton wore gorgeous Alexander McQueen dresses on her 3 portraits celebrating her 40th birthday

For her 40th birthday, the Duchess of Cambridge posed for Vogue photographer Paolo Roversi for three portraits

that will soon be on display in a famous museum.

In the decade since she joined the royal family, Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, has honed her photographic

skills, from becoming the patron of the National Portrait Gallery to releasing her own shots of Prince George,

Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis on their birthdays and launching her Hold Still project during the pandemic.

So it’s only natural that for her 40th birthday on January 9, 2021, Kate Middleton has eschewed posing for a painter

and asked Italian photographer (and regular Vogue contributor) Paolo Roversi to shoot a trio of portraits in Kew

Gardens.

Fashion photographs for Kate Middleton

Taken in November 2021, the shots depict the Duchess in a series of evening gowns on a neutral background.

These Alexander McQueen creations were declined in different colors from those spotted on the catwalks

or during presentations of the English house dear to Kate Middleton.

During the year 2022, the portraits will be displayed in places with “special significance” for Kate Middleton,

according to Kensington Palace. The first, Berkshire, is where she grew up and where the Middleton family

still lives; the second, St. Andrews, is where the future duchess met Prince William as an art history

student; and the third, Anglesey, is where the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge rented a cottage just after

their wedding in 2022. Adidas Originals Superstar Snakeskin Paolo Roversi

The exact locations where the portraits will be displayed will be revealed soon, and will be part of a larger initiative

by the National Portrait Gallery called Coming Home. While the museum – which is set to reopen in 2023 after a major

renovation – is closed, many of its treasures are on display in locations across Britain, from Vanessa Bell’s portrait

of Virginia Woolf in Charleston to Olivia Rose’s shot of Stormzy at the Croydon museum. Paolo Roversi’s three portraits

of the Duchess will become part of the institution’s permanent collection starting next year.
