Will the skirt be the sexiest piece of 2022

Will the skirt be the sexiest piece of 2022?

The low-waisted skirt of the 2000s is making a comeback in the spring-summer collections.

Transparency, cut-out details, fetishistic aesthetics… It’s time again to expose the skin. Gone are the long

dresses of Spring-Summer Fashion Week 2022: in 2022, visible hips are everywhere on the catwalk. And the 2000s

are probably a big part of it: the return of low-rise jeans and Alexander McQueen’s scandalous bumster are

proof that today’s fashion lies in this ultra sexy abdominal V.

The skirt in all its states

Versace is a repeat offender. After presenting, in spring 2021, a two-piece skirt with an apparent thong, the

Italian house repeated the exercise in spring 2022 by parading Emily Ratajkowski and Dua Lipa in slit skirts

nonchalantly placed on the top of the hips. But it was perhaps Philosophy that brought out the most dizzying

piece: a fringed skirt with a knee-length hemline and a scalloped waistline that reaches down to the groin.

The asymmetrical version seems to be the new standard: Altuzarra dyed it in tie-dye for a more bohemian aesthetic,

while LaQuan Smith declined it in its most sensual form, like a towel freshly tied to the waist after the shower.

In mini format, NÂș21’s skirt is reminiscent of the thong effect introduced by Versace last spring. https://pastelink.net/q5r70ljf Vogue Runway

The cut-out trend that’s shaping up for next year also extends to dresses. At its Spring/Summer 2022 show, the

house of Jonathan Simkhai presented a mesh dress open to the hips that revealed a chain belt. For its part, Rodarte

unveiled a collection all in softness with floral dresses with asymmetrical cuts. The fact that, in most cases,

this type of skirt is paired with very low-cut tops or bras only highlights a season that opens the door to nudity

after a pandemic period that was marked by the opposite.
