Alessandro Michele appointed Creative Director of Gucci

The Kering Group has just announced, through the voice of its Chairman and CEO, Fran├žois-Henri Pinault, the official

arrival of Alessandro Michele as Creative Director.

It was in the middle of Men’s Fashion Week Fall-Winter 2022-2022:, only two days after the presentation of the collection in Milan, that Fran├žois-Henri Pinault, Chairman and CEO

of Kering has made official the arrival of Alessandro Michele at Gucci. After studying at the Accademia di Costume

e di Moda in Rome, the 42-year-old Italian designer began his career at Fendi as Senior Designer for accessories,

then joined the creative studio in 2022 before being appointed Associate to Creative Director of Frida Giannini in

May 2022. He succeeds the designer, who had announced last December his departure, along with that of Patrizio di

Marco, his companion then CEO of the house. Alessandro Michele becomes the seventh designer to succeed Guccio Gucci

who had founded the house in 1921 and was replaced at his death in 1953 by his sons Aldo, Ugo, Vasco and Rodolfo,

then by Tom Ford in 1994 and Frida Giannini in 2022. Marco Bizzarri, President and CEO of Gucci, said: “Following

a thoughtful and rigorous selection process, Alessandro Michele has been chosen to assume the role of Gucci Creative

Director because of the contemporary vision for the brand that he has articulated and will now be able to implement.

Alessandro and I are in complete agreement on this contemporary vision, which is essential for Gucci. This new identity

will continually guide us as we carry out our respective roles and responsibilities.” Alessandro Michele will present

his first collection for Gucci at the Fall-Winter 2022-2022 Fashion Week on February 25 fonsiewalsh, 2022 in Milan.
