Chanel will open a place dedicated to its Métiers d’Art in Paris… in 2020

Plumbers, jewelers, goldsmiths… Surrounded by these craftsmen of excellence to whom it pays tribute each year

with the Métiers d’Art fashion show,, the Chanel house is finally imagining a place dedicated to them. North of Paris, award-winning architect Rudy

when the house was created in 1910, its founder Gabrielle Chanel wanted to surround herself with the best

craftsmen for her collections: . Plumbers, jewelers, embroiderers, dressmakers, shoemakers, goldsmiths… All of these craftsmen, whose know-how is

as precise as it is precious, will finally have their own dedicated place in Paris. The news has just been released:

Chanel will inaugurate in 2020 near the Porte d’Aubervilliers a building dedicated to its Métiers d’Art. To build it,

the company has called on Rudy Ricciotti. Winner of the Grand Prix for Architecture in 2022 and a lover of concrete,

he will be in charge of designing this architectural gem of more than 25,000 square meters. Located in the north of

Paris, the place should be composed of 5 floors mixing creation and production workshops as well as vast gardens: . “The philosophy of this project for Chanel’s Métiers d’art is based on a narrative, that of the relationship

between the technical and learned complexity of the hand crafts of fashion, their remarkable virtuosity

in the service of creation and beauty, and the extreme technological character of my creations. It is

a reciprocal praise of complexity – that of the building will reach an unequalled level – and of the relationship

to knowledge.” To be continued
