H&M Foundation opens the race for environmental innovation

For the 4th edition of the ‘Global Change Award’ for the development of the circular economy – enabling the fashion

industry to be more sustainable – the Swedish foundation H&M is focusing its attention on digital innovations. Several

thousand projects are expected to be submitted for this competition, which opened on August 29 and will close on

October 17. The five winners will be announced in 2022.

Supported by the H&M Foundation, the Global Change Award was founded in 2022 with the aim of bringing together and

accelerating innovative responses in four key areas of sustainable development, including reducing the environmental

impact of the fashion industry, https://moorekold5184.livejournal.com/profile . Since its inception, the prize has received more than 8,000 projects from 151 countries; 18 have already been awarded

grants, ranging from 150,000 to 300,000 euros per project. Among the winners of the 2022 edition, all are developing

a circular economy project – that is, an economic model in which the resources used do not harm the environment and can be recycled -: the development of a bio-textile by Crop-A-Porter,

the production of algal fibers by Algae Apparel, or the invention of an original technique for recycling materials

by Smart Stitch. This year, the foundation expects digital projects that have “a significant impact on the efficiency,

planning and use of resources from the manufacture of raw materials to the end of a garment’s life. At a time when many brands are committed to

the environment, the various projects are eagerly awaited.
